Meet the therapist
Dr. Sabrina Thorpe PT, DPT, PCES
Hey there, I’m Sabrina! I’m a PT, wife, and a mom of three. I've given birth pretty much every way a person can from having an induction, to c-section, to fully unmedicated home birth. I've personally struggled with the pregnancy aches and pains, incontinence, prolapse, and difficulty recovering my core postpartum. I've even had to do work on my own kids for flat heads and position preferences! So as a PT helping you on your journey, I get it because I've been there too.
Here are three things you should know about my beliefs about maternal health how I approach your care as a PT:
-
Women’s bodies are incredible, but the current healthcare system is failing us.
I’ve worked with women in all sorts of settings over the course of my career, and the way the conventional medical system approaches childbirth, menopause, aging, and female pelvic health is not working. It is failing women left and right, dooming them to spend over half of their lives incontinent, in pain, or endlessly chasing symptoms by going under the knife or swallowing mouthfuls of pills every day. It’s unacceptable. The good news is, there is something we can do about it, which is why I’m so passionate about working with women during their childbearing years.
2. Early intervention is crucial for optimal health.
I have seen time and time again, in all areas of my life, that nipping problems in the bud and being proactive with problem prevention is the best way to stay out of trouble. Problems in their early phase are small. Small problems have small solutions. It’s when we let things snowball into big problems that we start looking at needing big solutions. I’m here to help you no matter the size of your problem, and you won’t be brushed off for saying you want something addressed right now.
3. A healthy mom and a healthy baby are the foundation to a thriving
family.
Our health, and the health of our baby are intimately intertwined. When one is struggling, the other inevitably struggles. I see it time and time again, and it's a big reason why I treat both moms and babies in my practice. Both moms and babies deserve to feel and move their best.
Are you ready to take your health into your hands? I’m here to help you rock pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood so you and your family can thrive. Let’s go!
